Head of Design Terry de Havilland Job Title:

Head of Design

Company: TdH London Ltd

Biography: Terry comes from a shoe making family, and his earliest memories are of his father creating shoes in the shed at the bottom of the garden – including platform shoes made for the black market in 1940s war-torn Britain.  So following in his father’s footsteps, he began creating his own designs and has since built-up a cult following with customers ranging from Cher, Lulu, David Bowie to Alison Goldfrapp. When talking about Terry’s creations, actress / designer Sadie Frost, is reported as saying “I’m stealing a pair right now. They’re going in my handbag!”

In 2004 the Terry De Havilland brand was re-launched to huge critical acclaim, and Terry’s designs are now stocked by many of the world's finest luxury retailers.

Terry's Top Tip:

" To be a successful footwear designer you need to understand what you’re doing rather than just drawing shoes. You need to know how they’re made and achieve the correct fit. The more you understand about this, the better a designer you’re going to become. "
