Costume Maker Christine Atkinson Job Title:

Costume Maker

Company: Christine Atkinson

Biography:

Chrissie became interested in fashion at a young age and remembers selling clothes to her friends in the playground. So after studying a degree in fashion at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, London, she set-up her own business selling designs to top New York stores Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s.

Now working as a costume maker in the world of film and television, Chrissie recently worked with the comedian Peter Kay – turning him into Maria from the Sound of Music. She has also made costumes for Star Wars and Doctor Who, and made those fantastic pink sequined dresses worn in the television adverts for car insurance company “Sheila’s Wheels.”

Christine's Top Tip:

" If you’re asked to make an outfit for an alien with tentacles and three heads then you need to make sure that you fulfill the brief. If you’ve got good technical skills and take a really practical approach to costume making – it’ll be the best three headed alien in the business! "
